I thought it was going to be more information about how to treat illnesses and injuries WITHOUT modern medicine and equipment. It's basically a how to on setting up a small medical center and how to use some of the equipment and supplies to treat various situations.
I was hoping for something that provided more info for true survival. It is pretty lame, containing the same stuff you might find in a boy scout first aide manual. Nothing new to me. Complete waste of money.
It is so hard to find a medical book that doesn't end with "Contact 911" at the end of the page. It is a good book if you need information of basic wounds and sicknesses for when you can't just go to the hospital.
Maybe the author feared he'd be sued for practicing medicine without a license, but he didn't tell us much we can use -- unless we own a drug store or enough guns to steal what we need if the "S*** hits the fan," you're "WORL" and "YOYO," and all that business. I should have known better -- prepper-anything never seems to make much sense as far as everyday practical steps in case a severe storm takes out the rural power for two weeks and you can't keep your insulin cold, or you're out hunting and run into some unconscious guy with thready pulse and blue lips. I would much rather have had a basic primer (but not too basic) that went beyond "ABC" and into "Without a glucose meter, how do you know whether the disoriented camper with a "Diabetic" medical alert tag has high or low blood sugar -- or another problem altogether?" and other such info at a similar level.
This is nothing but common sense first aid. My book actually says "Best Seller" on it, what a joke!
Preppers look like supermen, but they act in our real world. Planning your actions for a possible emergency and resources stocking are crucial preparations. I liked reading practical handbook like this one to know the techniques of prepping and learning to identify plants/weeds that are useful for medicinal purposes incase of such unfortunate events.Graham Higgins wrote this book consistently and comprehensively to help anyone learn tips for survival and I appreciate him for sharing his ideas. This book is indeed helpful.
Pretty lean and basic. More of a handout than a book.
Simply to say, this book offers great value and crucial information for surviving. Teaches you how to act and when, and most importantly how. I was really surprised with the content of the whole book, it is really nicely done.
