This has to be one of the most fun books I have purchased in a long while. While there are "those" people out there who hated this installment of Dark Shadows, I found some love, even though I am a die hard original series fan. This book is a perfect companion to the film by Tim Burton, lots of color spreads, interesting information and just a joy. Add to all those things, the price was $4. Go figure.
This large, heavy book is a gorgeous product. The word "visual" in the title is appropriate, since it has significantly more photographic content than written content. But what text is there is fascinating reading, indeed. It makes one wish for a much more in-depth treatise on the making of the film, but this one is well worth the purchase for fans of the film. The early part, with a focus on preproduction, contains more text than the later parts which focus on specific aspects of production and postproduction. There are several samples of concept art for the film, from production and set design to costume and makeup. It's not as exhaustive as I would have wished, but it's very well done.
This is such a great book!!! I LOVE Burton's Dark Shadows, and cannot get enough of it! I am so fascinated on how the movie was made, and would have lived on the set if I had the chance. This movie is so unique in its quality, from the acting to the sets to the props. I had to know more about the movie, and this is great to see behind the scenes pics and learn about the people not in front of the camera, who helped make the magic happen.
Dark Shadows has become my new obsession. I fell in love with the movie, I thought it was beautiful, funny and visually stunning to see. This explains EVERYTHING of how this movie was made, and I loved it all not to mention the sketches and designs for the costumes and prosthetics. It's great.
This is a beautifully printed photo book. However there is little information to the pictures. Also some large photos have a lot of blurry background areas, so there is no need to print them that large. I also miss more info and photos about the SPFX.Oberall still a nice book, but consider this: Im a fan of the movie.
Great visual companion for the movie, a lot of beautiful concept art inside, that you can’t find on the internet, learned interesting details about making of the film, excellent quality of pages. Really happy with the purchase. Service was on point.
A good read for anyone interested in the 'Dark Shadows' soap opera and beyond all that. But for me, I wanted to see the whole story [script] written for the 2014 movie version. Anyone watching that movie got any ideas on detailing the whole story?
