I was deeply disappointed in this book. I feel the title is misleading because this book more reiterates the Vue.js documentation with next to no design decisions throughout the reading. If there was a design choice, it was not objectified nor properly justified by the author; just do it this way.I have read books that cover design and best practices before. For example, The Art of Unit Testing: the author would focus on aspects of design choices and could walk you through why a certain design decision was bad, the pitfalls of it as your application scales, and how to mitigate such issues. In other words, the author provided real-world experiences of issues faced in the wild and how they were combated and why do it this way. Not the case with Vue.js 2 Design Patterns and Best Practices.Aside from the misleading title, There were parts of this book I was excited about, namely, Vuex, and optimizations. The author, again, only reiterated the documentation of Vuex. The Optimizations chapter was far-off from what I imagined. Its main focus seemed to point you to Google's documentation and how to set up a git repo, a Firebase app, and CI/CD for the aforementioned Firebase app. Finally comes the most laughable part of this book. Chapter 13 Patterns. Again, the author reiterated the documentation. I expected more from this chapter than just that. I did like the container/presentation pattern he had in there. but, aside from that. you can just read the Vue documentation and learn the same concepts presented in this chapter.If you are brand new to Vue.js and want to get your feet wet. I would say this book is a decent match for you. It lays out a clear path for learning Vue.js as well as hints on a few additions outside the scope of Vue that can help you in developing a modern web app using a solid front-end framework. But buy it for just that and that alone.

Covers basic Vue. Not much better than Vue site. The code to pull down and try is the most useful part.

Just bought the book and haven't read it all yet. Why five stars? Paul has consistently provided outstanding tutorials on line. His tutorials are clear, concise and to the point without adding unnecessary fluff or showboating. So there's no reason to think his book would be any different. The folks from GitLab have switched to Vue and Paul's been on the leading edge of training so this has to be a useful book.

I purchased this book directly from Packt Publishing because I had some credit with them. While I have several books on Vue, this is the one I refer to the most. The author is concise which I appreciate. I understand the what & why of best practices, just not how to translate them into Vue. This book is perfect if you need to build an app in Vue and you're pressed for time. Every page contains valuable information, and it's delivered almost in checklist format, which is my personal favorite way to digest technical material.

This is a fascinating story, technically challenging even for most scientists. You certainly end up rooting for Shep and the whole gang. I can now peruse the scientific literature on line, waiting to see if the final analysis of the 2017 data set was definitive, and if so- what did they find?I read the e-book version, downloaded on October 9. My sole complaint is that there are no illustrations of either the principal scientists or of the many observatories featured in the saga.Has the Event Horizon Telescope assemblage ever been activated by another group, asking different questions? The concern by funding agencies for access is justifiable; what is the utility of the EHT going forward?Author Fletcher has compiled a fine scientific yarn, with just the right amount of dumbing-down for a non-astrophysicist to follow the technical arguments.

This was a book that once I started reading I couldn't put down. It isn't perfect but what is? This book is a chronological accounting of one stubborn scientist's dream of taking a radio image of the shadow of Sagittarius A* the black hole at the center of our galaxy the Milky Way.The author brings out the difficulty of doing this very well. The frustration of this undertaking is palpable through great descriptions of getting many very smart people together manning radio telescopes all over the world that had to deal with equipment problems, weather issues and the fact that they all had to start together. I found this an enjoyable book on the quest to photograph a black hole. It is about the characters including Shep, the man with the quest. I have a basic understanding of quantum physics which helped. When the science is explained it can be challenging to a lay reader. It is not a book with winners and losers. It is a book about the journey to get there.

Very enjoyable reading about a subject that the average person has concept or reference about, e.g. the size, shape and makeup of our Galaxy. Once you "fall into" this book you appreciate how difficult and time consuming the task of photographing (?) the black hole at the center of our Galaxy is! It's a gripping story, years in that making, full of science and science politics. Politics because if successful, up to three people will win the Nobel physics from this. So there is lots of politics and maneuvering. The image was taken in April 2017, but it is taking a lot of time to process and correlate the image data to get a picture.Loved the Audible book!

My toddler is at the age where he gets bored easily when you read to him. This book has pages where you can flip over to see a hidden animal, he gets a kick out of it. This is his favorite book. Highly recommend. And, if you're not a native Spanish speaker, this book has very easy vocabularies.

Buy the cardboard version if available.

My 4 and almost 2 year old both love it! I add the colors of every item to teach them a bit more (e.g., estará detrás de la puerta azul?, estará en el piano rosa?, etc) and then when they open it, I add the name of the animal that is in there (“No! el león está debajo de la escalera amarilla”).

I purchased this for my daughter when she was 1 even though we speak primarily English. She loved this book and thought it was so funny how Spot's mom couldn't find Spot until the very end. All the characters Spot's mom encounters are different animals and my daughter liked that, plus she learned quite a few Spanish words from listening to us read this book.

We are a Hispanic family living in USA. I bought it to read to my grandson before he goes to bed when he spend the night with me to reinforce his Spanish and he loves it.

Both of my daughters' favorite childhood books -- in both English and Spanish. So I sent one to my 15-month old grandson, who LOVES books. He loved this one, but he tore the covers off all of Spot's hiding places! So maybe this is better for a slightly older reader. I'll get him another copy when he's not inclined to tear whatever is tearable in a book!

It's a very soft and thin cover . Consider that if you are buying it for a little kid who might rip the pages

I have bought Peter Dunbar's Condominium Concept for the last several years. I thoroughly enjoy reading because it is very informative and he writes in a way that the layman (legal secretary and Board of Director of Condomium Association here in Florida. I have recommended Mr. Dunbar's book to many different people especially new Board members because I feel it is much easier to read than to sit down and try to read all of Florida Statute 718. Will continue to recommend his books and I will continue to buy them as they are updated.

This book is extremely helpful in areas of Condo Law practice. It should also be a must for any member of a condo board. It will answer most or all of the procedural and legal questions that you will encounter while the condo is in operation.

I am a CAM (certified association manager) in the state of Florida. A fantastic reference. I gift my board of directors a copy each time a new edition is published which is about every two years.

About the Author

Harriet Doerr (1910-2002) was born in Pasadena, California, and attended Smith College in 1927, but received her B.A. from Stanford University in 1977, where she was accepted into the Creative Writing Program. She was a Stegner Fellow, received the Transatlantic Review Henfield Foundation Award and a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts. Doerr’s first novel, Stones for Ibarra, won the 1984 National Book Award for First Work of Fiction, the Bay Area Book Reviewers Award, the Godal Medal of the Commonwealth Club of California, and the American Academy of Arts and Letters Harold D. Vursell Award. Her second novel, Consider This, Señora, was a national bestseller. Doerr’s third and final book, The Tiger in the Grass, was a collection of stories and anecdotal pieces.

I love this book, and I've owned it twice before, but I've loaned them out and can't remember who I loaned them to. I love Mexico and especially the small villages. This author catches the goodness of the people, their caring for others, and their hard working and purposeful existence. I'm with the Evertons on their journey, experiencing their joys and sadnesses as they experience them. And yes, I'll probably loan it and purchase again.

This would make an excellent movie in the hands of an Almodovar or other director deep in Sarah’s Head. However, as a novel-meh. I don’t think it adequately portrayed rural Mexico in 3D, unless you go back 20 years. Still, PLEASE, some good director take this on as a movie!

Loved this book! We read it in my book club and all of us found the writing to be evocative, a bit mysterious, and lyrical. Doerr's descriptions of the Mexico landscape and weather are simply marvelous, and I say this as one who has never been fond of arid terrains! The fanciful, bitter-sweet mood of the stories has lingered with me for months. Great read!

This novel follows the experiences of Richard and Sara Everton, just over and under forty, when they move from the United States to a remote town in Mexico. There they revive the house and the mine once operated by Richard's grandfather. They intend to live there for the rest of their lives, but Richard is diagnosed with a blood disorder and given a forecast of five to six more years.In that time, Richard and Sara build their home, the mine and their lives among the local people. After an arresting opening, beautifully describing their move to Ibarra, the book reads like a fugue, moving from one scene to another, back and forth in time, in a dreamlike state. Sara possesses an active imagination and is fond of making things up, often imaging the details in life that she fails to see.The first few chapters are stunning, the writing drawing the reader fully into the Everton's world. Subsequent chapters were occasionally dense, losing the lightness and magic found in the opening.Doerr successfully avoids getting bogged down in the day-to-day details of life in Ibarra, focusing instead on the most significant characters and stories she heard during her stay there. A good read overall, this is a particularly good example for people interested in travel or cultural memoirs.

Richard and Sara Everton move from a sophisticated life in San Francisco to an old adobe house in super-rural Mexico where, on some harebrained idea, they think they can make a go of it by re-opening a copper mine abandoned by Richard's grandfather. It's an idyllic dream, and there are many good moments. But from the very opening of the book, we're told Richard will die, Sara will deny their problems till the end, and they will leave Ibarra without having achieved their dreams. The range and depth of characters in the little town, the juxtaposition of one culture against another, the assimilation of the atheistic Americans into the intensely Catholic community, the gorgeous descriptions of the landscapes, and the many side stories of the myriad characters all contribute to this book's perennial popularity. One gets the sense that the author's love and affection for her characters is real.It's a beautifully written book, and it's certainly incredible that Harriet Doerr wrote it, her first book (at least the first to be published), when she herself was already an old woman

my favorite book of all time. And I've read a lot. I read it back in the 80s for the first time and just re-read it. It is still as delicate and haunting and as simply stated as I remembered it . I wish that I could write the author but unfortunately she is no on earth any longer. Our book club chose it and we all loved it.

I liked this book so much I bought a dozen copies to donate to my book club so everyone could enjoy Harriet Doerr. I would have loved to know that woman! And boy can she tell a story. Great for anyone who still remembers enough high school Spanish to get the language references.

This gentle read introduces charming characters and an insight into how Americans might be viewed by a different culture. The love story of both place and time wind the principle characters through the village, and through their lives dealing with a terminal illness. This is no sob story but a lovely tribute tale.

Perfect self-study guide for the CCENT/CCNA! NOTE: You'll need to download the errata and updates from the Cisco Press website. Included software is not the best for practice exams.This is a perfect tool to add to your toolbox if you're going for the Cisco CCENT or CCNA. However, you'll probably need to supplement these books with additional study material. The books are very detailed and give a great explanation of the topics in the Cisco exams. You'll benefit from adding some additional training to supplement these books. I would suggest either a home lab with real equipment or a network simulator, this way you can fully experience IOS commands and configuration. I'd also suggest a video training course, such as CBT Nuggets.Be sure to go to the Cisco Press website and download the errata and updates for the books (mostly the ICND-2 book has many updates since being published.) This way you'll be getting the latest information and training. Specifically, the ICND-2 book is lacking in subjects such as Rapid Spanning Tree, First Hop Redundancy Protocols, and OSPF/EIGRP. The free download of the updated content from Cisco Press has these topics covered in more detail. Also the errata will help with the few minor typo's the books have. So be sure to download them!!!The included software leaves a lot to be desired. While it is handy having all of the book practice questions available on the computer, along with the chapter review quizzes, the included Practice Exams are not the greatest. I will say this, the practice exam and part-review quizzes are MUCH more difficult than the actual exam. Wendell Odom went out of his way to make the practice questions as literal as possible, so beware of several trick questions that you'll get wrong because you didn't pay attention to exactly how the answers are worded. This can be discouraging because you'll score low on the practice questions even though you think you know the content, in actuality it's a good thing. Once you can pass the practice questions with passing scores you should really know the content and be prepared for the real exam.I passed the CCENT exam using these books along with CBT Nuggets videos and equipment in my home lab. I'm almost ready to take the CCNA exam and feel confident that I'll do well. I decided to review these books now that I've read through both of them a few times and have already taken one exam. Just remember, unless you already have experience with Cisco IOS and networking, you'll probably want to supplement your training with study materials other than these books. It's doubtful that just reading these books alone will fully prepare you for the exams.Good luck!

Got the physical copy so I could also get the software and I'm happy to have the books.It's nice to be able to make notes in the margins.I'm halfway through book 1. Will update more as I move along.Update - 1/31-2016- I took my test last week and sadly I failed.I ran out of time. failed with a 733 and had a few questions left.There were a couple of things on the test that were not included in the book.I got a question about VRRP and object tracking.object tracking isn't talked about at all in either book. :(the book uses the term blocking a lot with STP and the test spoke of discarding - close enough to the same to assume, but hate having to assume.I purchased additional labs/simulater so I can get my speed faster and not fail again.the "LIte" simulater included has some labs, but they are so ridiculously easy that they don't help very much.

When you buy this library instead of each boot separately you get one book for free. I would highly recommend spending the money for the premium content. You well find the code you need to do this (purchase premium content) on the card inside the DVD sleeve in the back of the book. Do not skip the "contents" "introduction" and " Getting started" Mr. Odom uses these section to explain how to use both books and the premium content to study for the CCNA. Mr. Odom even provides a suggested Study Plan in appendix P. The Library (witch is both books) provides the purchaser with a way to prepare for the 2 test track or the 1 test track, Pearson IT Certification Practice Test Engine (Windows Only), Network Simulator Lite (Windows and MAC), Video Library, and the appendixes have more information on how to subnet and other areas of the CCNA. But, if you purchase the premium content you well receive Premium edition of the book in PDF, EPUB, Kindle format, Enhanced Practice Test Engine, two additional ICND1 practice test, and two additional full CCNA practice test and you get all this the premium content at a 70% discount off the list price of $39.99. Masahiro Hikokubo Masahiro Hikokubo is a writer with extensive experience on the Yu-Gi-Oh! animation series. It's a really good book. It shows some really funny parts in the chapters. Plus you'll be surprised what happens in this volume. Buy this book and you'll see what I mean.

I bought this for the yugioh promo card. Better than buying from TCGPlayer, because its almost the same price. Its time to duel buddy.

I bought and paid for a new volume to give to my younger brother, and the manga came on time. However, opening up the package, the edges of the manga are bent and there was no card inside. A little disappointing.
