I thoroughly enjoyed this book! Can be read in one sitting, but I took my time as I was very entertained by the descriptive writing and good characters. Aimed at young readers but can be enjoyed by any age.Exciting adventure, with lots of funny scenes as well, and very believable - not far fetched at all.Can recommend this and was very happy to get a free copy to review. Not many good authors to read with a Southern African background, but Mr Rimmer is one of the best.
I have spent many Christmas holidays at 2nd Beach so know it well. It was an okay story, but just okay. One of my main criticisms was that to me, the story is/was aimed at Young Adult and not Adult and therefore came across as overly simplistic? The story line itself I also felt was weak and perhaps needed some tweaking as it ran around too many themes all trying to merge into too short a story.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book set in the beautiful Wild Coast of South Africa.The characters were like-able and the story had a number of twists and turns until the last page.I was offered this book as a freebie and can recommend it to anyone wanting a very readableshortish story.
I live in East London, down the coast from the Wild Coast and Port St. John’s, where this book is based. We also spent our school holidays on the Wild Coast. I found this book accurate, detailed and fun, and it definitely took me back to our days along that coast.It was a fun and quick read, easy to get into and it held you till the end. Would definitely recommend to any reader looking for a light but accurate read about Siuth Africa and the Transkei area.
I enjoyed this lightweight, yet thoroughly entertaining book by a favourite author. It reminded me of another, similar book I read a long time ago - which i can't remember the title or author of. Accurate descriptions, delightful characters and an easy to relate to story. Anyone who has been to the Wild Coast in South Africa will relate to its setting. A departure from Peter's normal publications, but a great holiday read.
The story was too short. It makes you want to know what happened with the characters! Actually a very good read!
Too many characters jump out at you in too short a space of time. But, once you get going it’s a good story, if a little shallow.
Loved the descriptions of the coastal area. Was easy to imagine being there in that beautiful part of our South African coast.
